This piece is a personal project I developed during my vacation, where I took the opportunity to explore and apply some production techniques I've been learning. It features the use of vector displacements, a Mari-based texturing workflow enhanced with scanned assets, and the ZBrush UDIM importer.
The concept was inspired by the hippos that inhabit a region called Doradal, located about three hours from my hometown. I also wanted to capture and celebrate the natural richness of the area, including elements like Yarumo leaves, rivers, and the lush vegetation characteristic of the region.
The initial concept was developed in Nomad Sculpt for Ipad.
